To all who visited Swan’s Island in 2023, greetings from Maine! I hope that the year was good to you and that you enjoyed your summer vacation on Swan’s Island and need to come back! That is how I feel about the island…I need to come back!

Please note that WiFi is not available on properties listed below unless otherwise indicated.  Highspeed Wifi is available at the library in Atlantic.  The internet porch is open 24 hours a day. 

 

There is a Tesla charging station at the island’s motel.

Allen House (19 City Point Road)

A classic island house in Minturn has views of Burnt Coat Harbor. There are four bedrooms. One bedroom downstairs has a single. There are three bedrooms upstairs. One has a king size bed, another has a single and the third has two singles. The one bathroom is upstairs and has a tub with hand-held shower. The kitchen and dinning room are open plan. Kitchen has all the usual appliances including a microwave. There is an old cast iron cook stove, original to the house, in the kitchen, but it is no longer in use. The living room has a window seat with a wonderful harbor view. No smoking. No pets. $850/wk.

Bailey Guesthouse (43 City Point Road)

 Situated at the head of Burnt Coat Harbor on City Point in Minturn, the Guesthouse has a large sunny bedroom upstairs with a double bed.  There is a Jotul woodstove there for early Spring and Fall heat.  A row of windows has views of the harbor.  Back row of windows has views of a wonderful fern field.  Downstairs is a small but efficient bathroom with a shower.  The open plan downstairs has a kitchen and dinning room.  There is a day bed for a third person.  There is a wonderful heat pump (heater/cooler) on the wall.  You will have access to a boat launch area for small boats.  The harbor is only a few steps from your front door.  Landlord’s husband speaks French and Spanish. Pets with permission. No smoking.  $800/wk. 

Winter Rental: Bailey house (43 City Point Road)

This house is situated at the head of Burnt Coat Harbor in Minturn in a wooded setting surrounded by water on three sides. Sleeps 2: large sunny bedroom with a double. Access to boat launch. No smoking/pets with permission.  Rental for October to June: $800/month plus utilities.

Cabot House (501 North Road)

Located on the York Narrows at Garden Cove, this house has privacy, a spectacular setting and its own dock with moorings.  There are three bedrooms.  The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a full bath.  Downstairs are two bedrooms:  one has two doubles and the other has two singles.  There is a full bath downstairs as well.  Great stone fireplace in the living room.  Screened-in porch off of the kitchen side of the house has a wonderful view of the cove.  Orono Island is just across the narrows.  Inner cove is perfect for launching canoes and kayaks.  No smoking/no pets.  $2,000/wk.

Carter House on The Minturn Loop 

Carter House is at 351 Minturn Road.  This road is also known as the Minturn Loop.  The house is on the shores of the Mill Pond which is a tidal salt water arm of Burnt Coat Harbor.  You have a wonderful view of the harbor!  There is a deck with table and chairs on the water side where the lawn slopes down to the shore.  There are three bedrooms upstairs.  Two rooms have queen size beds and the third has two singles.  One full bath upstairs that is accessed through two of the bedrooms.  Downstairs is another bathroom with a shower.  Fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher.  Washer and dryer.  Living room and dinning room.  Views of sunsets are great.  No smoking.  No pets.  $1300/wk.

 

Chetwynd’s Little House ( 245 Harbor Road)

Located in Swan’s Island Village, this charming cottage has a view of Burnt Coat Harbor and two decks from which to enjoy it! The house sleeps two in the upstairs double bed. There is a seating area in the front windows. A fantastic little deck on the south side has stairs that go down to the first floor. The one bathroom is upstairs and has a shower. The first floor features marmoleum flooring and an old-fashion tin ceiling. An efficient kitchen with a decorative tin table is perfect for dining in, but the front deck is great for dining out. There is a day bed in the front window that could sleep one. The brightly painted interior will add to your relaxation and enjoyment of the island. Drinking and cooking water is provided by your neighbors, the Chetwynds. There is access to Toothacker Cove behind house. No smoking. No pets. $850/wk.

Cottage at Cottle’s Cove (90 Atlantic Road) 

Enjoy a wonderful view of the water from the 16’ x 30’ ocean side deck. There’s a quick walk to shore and secluded sandbar with canoe and row boat. The main room features a vaulted ceiling and has a wood stove, There is a full sleeper sofa and full futon. The bedroom has a full-size bed on main floor and the loft contains 2 twin beds. Ther are games, TV, DVDs. No smoking/no pets. $850/wk.

Journey’s End (31 City Point Road) in Minturn

This is one of the oldest homes on the island dating from the 1840s. The land goes to the water both front and back and it is possible to launch canoes or kayaks from the front shore. The house has spectacular views of Burnt Coat Harbor. It can sleep 9 in five bedrooms: A double bed downstairs; 4 bedrooms upstairs, one with 2 single beds, another with a single bed and two with double beds. One full bath downstairs; half bath upstairs. There is a newly-renovated eat-in kitchen and a large living room with exposed hand-hewn beams. No smoking/no pets. WiFi available on request. Deck. $1,300/wk

Morrison Cottage on Duck Cove (16 East Duck Cove Road) in Minturn

This 3-bedroom, ocean-front log cabin sleeps 5 with a half bathroom in the main house and a bath house in a separate building. There are 310 feet of cobble beach in front and a spectacular view of Big and Little Baker Islands. A great spot for kayaking. A child’s dream and very private. No smoking/no pets. $1,200/wk.

Nichols House (225 Stanley Point Road)

Located on the water at Stanley Point in Minturn, this house looks to Harbor Island on the Eastern Way with a beautiful setting. It was featured as a painting for the L.L.Bean catalog of 1994. It sleeps 5 in three bedrooms: l king, 1 single, two singles. Great yard out front for watching the world. No smoking/no pets. $1200/wk

Red Ledge Cabin (70 Harbor Road)

This cabin sits on the north end of Burnt Coat Harbor on the Swan’s Island. There are two queen beds in a common sleeping area upstairs that is reached by a ladder. There is a queen-size sleeper downstairs in the living room. A small deck upstairs can also be reached from the ground. A kitchen deck is also available. The woodstove  kills the chill. There are a gas cook stove and a washer & dryer. Bathroom has a shower. There is an outside shower as well. The steep land goes down to the shore where there is a par 4 buoy golf course. VCR, radio, CD with CDs, games & puzzles are provided. There is a galley kitchen a small kitchen table with a big view of the cove below. No smoking. No pets. $800/wk.

Shady Pines is a private, peaceful cottage with a dramatic ocean front set on 6 acres of woods and an expansive rocky coast. Lounge on the sun-drenched deck. Explore the rocky coast and treasures of low tide – all at your doorstep. Hike to the nearby light house. Watch the sunset from the ledges. Spend evenings reading by the wood stove.  It has two bedrooms with queen beds. Sleeper in the living room.  Satellite WiFi.  No smoking/no pets.  June $1550/wk ; July, August and September $1800/wk

The Farmhouse (155 Rose Hill Road) is set in a field with apple trees with views of Mount Desert.  The house is mainly on one level.  There are three bedrooms.  Two have doubles in each and the third has two singles.  There are two bathrooms with showers.  Livingroom, sitting room, kitchen with a dishwasher and all the usual appliances. Dining room table seats six. Laundry room with washer and dryer.  On the water side there is a grass porch that is in the morning sun. Access to Barbour Beach via the field path. WiFi is available. $1600/wk. Dogs $100/wk. No smoking.

West Lee Cottage (18 Steamboat Hill Road)

This is the last house on the left at the bottom of Steamboat Hill above Kent’s Wharf in Swan’s Island Village. In the old days this house was Neuman’s store. The updated house itself has two bedrooms that sleep four. Two bathrooms. Lots of windows and sliding glass doors. Open loft-like feel with views of the working harbor. Fully equipped kitchen. Lots of books and art. New pantry. Screened porch. The large deck has fire pit and lots of furniture. Kent’s Wharf just below sells lobsters. There is a studio sleeping six that is reached through the kitchen. It has a Franklin stove and shares the downstairs bathroom of the main house. No smoking/no pets.The house has WiFi available. $1100/wk

Valley House is at 377 Harbor Road.  It is the last house on the right before going up to the lighthouse.  This old island house has been remodeled. Views are of Burnt Coat Harbor and to the west over Toothacher Bay (and sunsets!)  There are three small bedrooms upstairs.  One single; two singles; one queen and one single.  Full bath with shower is upstairs.  Downstairs is an open floor plan with a galley kitchen and dinning room that has a table that seats six.  Kitchen has an electric stove, ice box, microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker.  Tile floors.  There is a family room in the back of the house (the barn is off limits,) that is spacious.  There is plenty of seating in the area.  There is a propane barbeque available. Washer and dryer.  Dogs are allowed for an additional $100.  No smoking.  $1000/wk.
