Welcome to Swan's Island Maine
Welcome to Swan’s Island, Maine
Swans Island is located Down East along the rugged Maine coast nestled close to Acadia National Park. It is a six-mile car ferry ride to a place “far from the madding crowd” — a place with no golf courses, no movie theaters, and only one “mall”, the island transfer station, which islanders affectionately call the North Mall. The island supports three small lobstering villages with a winter population of around 400 people.
The island is a place with just the serenity and beauty that nature has to offer. Here you will find trails cushioned by spruce needles and moss, the foam of crashing surf, the haunting call of gulls. There are days of sunlight glinting off sparkling seas or the solitude of fog-shrouded coves. There is the laughter of cobblestones rolling down wave strewn beaches, or the warmth of fine sand in your toes. It is a place with night skies so dark the Milky Way streaks across from corner to corner and when the sun is especially active, Northern Lights dance eerily above. Swan’s is a great place for kayaking, sailing and boating in general. If you really want to get away from it all, Swan’s Island is the place for you. Do check us out!
